Thoroughbred Incentive Program

Registration is required.

The Jockey Club's Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.) was created to encourage the retraining of thoroughbreds into other disciplines once they have completed their careers in racing, offering incentives to pursue excellence in a second career.

If you ride a registered Thoroughbred you can qualify to participate in the T.I.P. and compete for ribbons and prizes provided by the Jockey Club.

Awards will be given out for High Point and Reserve High Point in all divisions at all sanctioned Ontario Horse Trials.

By signing up you may also be eligible for the T.I.P. Year-End Championship Award. The championship will offer prize money and is open to qualified and declared horses. Find out how to qualify for the T.I.P. Championships.

To be eligible to participate for the program, owners and riders must:

  • Apply for a T.I.P. number trough the Jockey Club.

  • Include their T.I.P. number on all entry forms for EC-sanctioned OEA Horse Trials, through Event Entries or by email to the Secretary of the horse trial you are entering.

Your T.I.P. number is proof that your Thoroughbred is registered with The Jockey Club or a foreign Thoroughbred stud book (recognized by The Jockey Club). Unregistered Thoroughbred’s are not eligible for the Program.
