Stadium rules and scoring
Rules related to scoring, calculating penalty points, and governing mandatory elimination in the stadium jumping phase.
Scoring
In the stadium jumping phase, a rider can incur penalties for jumping faults at obstacles and for excess time. Completing the course in less than the time allowed is neither penalized, nor rewarded.
Penalty points incurred in the stadium jumping phase are added to those from the dressage phase.
Jumping faults/penalties

Knocking down an obstacle: 4 penalties.

First disobedience (run-out, refusal, circle): 4 penalties.

Second disobedience in the whole test (EV105, EV100, EV90, EV85, EV75, EV60): 8 penalties.

Second disobedience in the whole test (EV120, EV115, EV110): Elimination.

Third disobedience in the whole test (EV105, EV100, EV90, EV85, EV75, EV60): Elimination.
Time faults

Exceeding the time allowed: 0.4 penalty for each second or part of a second in excess of the time allowed, up to the time limit.

Exceeding the time limit (twice the time allowed): Elimination
Mandatory elimination during stadium jumping

​Second disobedience in the whole test (EV120, EV115, EV110).

Third disobedience in the whole test (EV105, EV100, EV90, EV85, EV75, EV60).

Fall of horse and/or rider.

Exceeding the time limit.

Jumping or attempting to jump an obstacle in the arena before the start of the test.

Starting before the signal is given and jumping the first obstacle of the course.

A Horse resisting for 45 consecutive seconds during the test.

Taking more than 45 seconds to jump an obstacle.

Omitting to cross the starting and/or finishing lines between the flags.

Jumping an obstacle that does not form part of the course during the test.

Omitting to jump an obstacle of the course.

Jumping an obstacle in the wrong order; Jumping an obstacle in the wrong direction.

Jumping or attempting to jump an obstacle after an interruption without waiting for the bell.

Not jumping all the fences of a combination again after a disobedience.

Not crossing the finishing line mounted before leaving the arena.

A loose Horse leaving the arena before the end of the test, including before starting provided the arena is correctly closed in accordance with the Rules.

Receiving unauthorized assistance during the test.

Error of course not corrected.

Showing an obstacle to the Horse after a refusal and before stepping back to jump it.
