The Application for the 2025 Zara Buren Memorial Award is now live.
Applications are being accepted until January 24, 2025 at midnight.
The award was created through the Zara Buren Memorial Foundation to honour the memory of Zara Buren and to inspire riders of all ages across the province, setting the bar for excellence, sportsmanship and horsemanship. The recipient receives $6,000 to support training, rider development and competition participation making it one of the most generous cash awards in Canadian Equestrian sport.
The Haque-Buren Family also awards Grants of Distinction ($1,000) and Grants of Potential ($500), at its discretion. The selection of recipients follows a rigorous evaluation process with the Selection Committee which includes the Haque/Buren Family and OEA Board members.
The Award and Grant recipients will be announced on February 17, 2025.
All OEA members under the age of 18 as of January 1, 2025, and competing up to the EV110 Level are encouraged to apply, including previous applicants and Grant recipients.
