2026 Zara Buren Memorial Award

The Application Form for the 2026 Zara Buren Memorial Award is now live.
Applications will be accepted until January 19, 2026, at midnight.
The award was created through the Zara Buren Memorial Foundation to honour the memory of Zara Buren and to inspire riders of all ages across the province, setting the bar for excellence, sportsmanship and horsemanship. The recipient receives $6,000 to support training, rider development and competition participation making it one of the most generous cash awards in Canadian Equestrian sport.
The Haque-Buren Family also awards Grants of Distinction ($1,000) and Grants of Potential ($500), at its discretion. The selection of recipients follows a rigorous evaluation process with the Selection Committee which includes the Haque/Buren Family and OEA Board members.
The recipient of the Zara Buren Memorial Award (and any Grant recipients) will be announced on Monday, February 23, 2026.
All Ontario Eventers, under the age of 18 as of January 1, 2026, and competing up to the EV110 Level are encouraged to apply, including previous applicants and Grant recipients.
Applicants must have a current 2026 OEA membership to be considered.
