Results of the 2019 Adult Amateur Survey

Thank you to all of you who responded to our Adult Amateur survey that was released at the end of July.  The OEA decided to survey our Adult Amateur riders to start our planning for the next season and what is currently working well for our Adult Amateurs and what they wanted to see in the future.

We had 61 responses, which is great, we have 564 members who identify as AA so this a 10.8% return rate which is a good response rate for a survey.

We asked whether or not as an Adult Amateur did they attend our Beautiful Braids and Alternative Therapy sessions.  Only 2 people said yes.  The feedback included that there was too little notice, that it was too far away and work/family commitments did not allow for attendance.  Some suggestions was to go online with content

We then asked what would they be willing to pay for a clinic.  The results showed that most Adult Amateurs were comfortable with paying less than $150 for a clinic.

We then asked our members what type of clinics that they would like to see in the future.  Some of the suggestions we captured and summarized are below

  1. Rules, we need a session at the beginning of the season to review eventing rules

  2. Land safe

  3. Conditioning for each level

  4. Masterclass on Grooming

  5. Walking a stadium course

  6. Mental preparation

  7. Injury prevention for your horse

  8. Course Walk Clinic

  9. Dressage Clinic

  10. Show jumping clinic

  11. Cross Country Clinic – 2 day

  12. Weekend Eventing Clinic/ Adult Amateur Camp

We asked our members who they would like as clinicians, here are the results in a Word Cloud for some visual fun of who was suggested.
