SUCCESS IS SIMPLICITY EXCEPTIONALLY DONE” SAM WATSON 19-11-04
“PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION” SAM WATSON 19-11-04
It was a great day at Ghostwood farms with Sam Watson. We had 28 auditors, 7 coaches 19 riders. The riders were split into groups and the 19 riders in 4 groups were treated to a 90 minute session on Sam.
All riders started with pole work, Sam placed rails on the outside line and had the riders adjust their horses through 7 and 9 strides between the poles. Working on being able to see the distance and adjust your horse smoothly from the line. The clinic focused on distances and show jumping, the first exercise pushed our eventers to jump a bending line on a half circle in 3 strides [see the blue dotted line].
Each group moved onto jumping courses alternating jumps of 3 strides and an oxer to oxer line of 6 strides. Our Ontario riders did so well during the clinic, you could see the improvement in their distances as they progressed through each exercise.
We hope to have Sam Watson back again, and thank to all our Coaches who came out to learn more from Sam and pay it forward to their students here in Ontario..
Special thanks to Ann Neal, Deb Welna and Pat Frewen-Lord for managing the onsite logistics for the OEA and a huge thank you to Torchy Millar for the beautiful facility and to Momo for being our gracious host.
